Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

Dear Parents and Carers,

As we come to the end of what has been a truly transformative year for Nancealverne School, we want to take a moment to reflect and celebrate everything our incredible school community has achieved together.

This year marked some major milestones. The opening of Cury School with its dedicated and passionate new team of staff has extended our vision and provision in exciting new ways. Closer to home, the launch of our Nancealverne Upper Site has been a resounding success—thanks in no small part to the amazing attitude and commitment of our Post-14 learners, who have embraced every opportunity and made it a thriving and dynamic environment.

We also welcomed a record number of new families into our school community through our expanded EYFS provision. Your support, positivity, and trust have made such a difference as we continue to grow and evolve.

Throughout the year, we’ve shared so many joyful moments at school events—from our lively VE Day party and festive Christmas Fair to the buzzing Summer Fair and emotional Leavers Events. Each of these occasions has been a celebration of our school spirit and togetherness.

Our enrichment programme has gone from strength to strength, with highlights including a memorable trip to London and the continued success of the Duke of Edinburgh Awards. The generosity and involvement of our wider community have also played a huge role, with regular support from the Leisure Centre, Tennis Club, Cricket Club, and Gymnastics Club, all helping to enrich our pupils’ experiences.

We’ve also been proud to continue offering a wide range of therapeutic opportunities—including horse riding, trampolining, music therapy, and Zumba—ensuring every learner can thrive in their own way, all while staying true to our core curriculum and values.

And in a year full of highlights, one truly special moment was our Outstanding Ofsted Inspection—recognition of everything we strive for every day. As the report so perfectly put it: “Pupils flourish and shine at Nancealverne School.”

None of this would be possible without our extraordinary staff teams, whose dedication, creativity, and compassion shine through in all they do. And of course, to our pupils—you are the reason we do what we do, and we could not be prouder of you.

Thank you to every member of our community for your support this year. We wish you a wonderful summer—rest, recharge, and we look forward to welcoming you all back in September for another fantastic year.

Warmest wishes,

Ruth, Pippa, Jodie and the Nancealverne School Team

Mazey Day:

The day began with showers, but the skies cleared just in time for the 11am parade. It was a bustling day filled with excitement and big crowds—but our students truly stole the show! Their creativity and hard work were on full display, and we couldn’t be prouder.
A heartfelt thank you to everyone who came out to support and celebrate with us!

Upper School:

Aspen and Oaks had a wonderful time taking part in an engaging storytelling session led by the Minack Theatre. The children were captivated by the lively performance and interactive elements, which brought stories to life in imaginative and exciting ways. It was a fantastic opportunity to experience the magic of theatre and storytelling, inspiring creativity and a love for the arts.

Football:

We had 12 students play 3 x 6-a-side games: 2 vs Cape Cornwall School and 1 vs each other.

The students enjoyed an afternoon at Cape Cornwall, whilst achieving great results and scoring goals. Our students loved being part of a team, and after 6 months of attending weekly football training sessions, they were finally able to have an end goal at the end of term.

The players did themselves and the school proud, showing off their confidence and fitness which has been gained from weekly sessions. They've learned to support each other and work even better and harder as a team along the way, and showcased this to fabulous effect down in St Just.

The school is extremely lucky to have such talented individuals who bring so much joy to the staff that coach them every week.

Every player left with a medal that read "Together Everyone Achieves More", which is an everlasting statement that will hopefully stay in their minds long after the game ended when they think about what the word "team" means.

Swimming Gala:

We really enjoyed our first swimming gala with both Nancealverne and Cury schools at Penzance Leisure Centre on Monday this week. It was lovely to see the students enjoying themselves and competing in races together, as well as enjoying a fun session.

Well done to all of those who took part!

Thank You for a Fantastic Summer Fayre!

A huge thank you to everyone who joined us for our Summer Fayre! It was a wonderful afternoon, and we’re so proud of the children for their creativity and effort in designing games and making items to sell — they did an amazing job!

Thanks to your support, we raised an incredible £531.60 — what a fantastic result!

While we were disappointed that the ice cream van couldn’t make it on the day, we made up for it with a sweet surprise: everyone enjoyed a well-deserved ice cream treat on Monday!

Thank you again for making it such a special event.

Chesnuts Class:

Yesterday, Chestnuts Class had an exciting adventure on their trip to Paradise. The children had a fantastic time learning about a variety of animals, discovering fun facts and seeing them up close. Alongside their learning, they enjoyed plenty of playtime and made wonderful memories together. It was a fun-filled day full of smiles, laughter, and learning!
