Dear Parents, Carers and Families,

What a wonderful week it has been across our school community! One of the highlights was the amazing transition event held on our Upper Site. It was fantastic to see students engaging so confidently, and we are incredibly grateful to the visiting providers who supported the event, as well as the parents who took the time to attend. Your involvement makes such a positive difference.

Our staff team continues to grow and learn together, too. This week we benefitted from excellent training delivered by the Special Partnership Trust, and we’re pleased to share that more of our team have now qualified in Team Teach. Their dedication ensures we continue to provide the best support and learning environment for our students.

It’s been a fun, purposeful, and productive week, and as we wrap it up, we’d like to wish everyone a restful and enjoyable weekend.

Acorns Class:

In Acorns we have a weekly Big Write when we practise our writing in different ways. This includes writing on the big computer or even in glitter, flour and sand. We have even been drawing and writing with sticks for our story of the week "Stickman." We have also been busy taking turns and using the dice in our Maths games before jumping along the number line.

Juniper Class:

We have been so creative in Juniper so far this term. In English, we have been reading stories by Julia Donaldson and made Gruffalo crumble! In science, we have been exploring light and dark and making these beautiful sun catchers! We have also done lots of painting and made autumn trees.

Palm Class:

Palm Class News: Being Awesome Online and Learning to be Safe Digital Citizens!

We've been having a brilliant time in Computing, learning all about how to be safe and sensible when we're online. The boys have been highly engaged in practical, active learning, and we're really proud of how much they've achieved in just four weeks!

Our Learning So Far:

  • Secrets, Secrets! We kicked things off by learning exactly what personal information is (like our address or phone number) and why it's really important to keep it private from online strangers. We used our 'Secret Box' activity to establish personal boundaries online.
  • Safety Superheroes (Stop, Block, Tell!): The class mastered the three most important steps for online safety: Stop, Block, and Tell an adult if anything makes them feel uncomfortable. Some of the children wrote Action Plans for tricky situations, showing they can move from defining safety to taking practical, planned action.
  • Being Kind: We talked about cyberbullying and what it feels like to be on the receiving end. The boys did a great job figuring out how to be supportive friends and always tell a grown-up if they see unkind behaviour. This focused on understanding the emotional impact of inappropriate online conduct.
  • Fact or Fake? ?? Most recently, we turned into detectives for our 'Fact or Fiction' session! We looked at pictures and silly headlines to learn that not everything seen online is true. This introduced the basic concept of checking if information is trustworthy—a crucial skill for any Digital Citizen.

The photos show the class working hard, sharing ideas, and using the computer to practice their skills. We are delighted with their commitment to using technology safely, respectfully, and responsibly!

Oaks Class:

The Upper School recently hosted a Transition Event, bringing in a range of next-step providers for our pupils to meet. Throughout the day, students from different classes visited the sessions, asked questions and explored what options might be available to them in the future. It was a calm, positive and genuinely great opportunity for learners to gain information and think about their next steps.

We would also like to give a mention to Aspen and Oaks Class, who ran a small café upstairs and served cakes they had baked themselves. They worked together to welcome visitors and offer refreshments. Their contribution added a friendly and supportive atmosphere to the event.
