ISSUE 005

Hello Everyone

What a term it has been with so many exciting learning experiences and opportunities at Nancealverne.

It was lovely to be able to see so many of you at parents evening and share the successes with you. I will be holding a tea and talk event in May and will invite parents from all classes to join me.

We have celebrated our love of reading and books on World book day this term and this continues to be a great day where children and staff dress up as there favourite character or in there pjs. This is a yearly calender event and is thoroughly enjoyed by all.

I can not begin to express how thankful we all are for the donations for the Ukraine appeal. The generosity shown has been amazing!  As well as donations of clothes, toilettes, blankets and mediation the school has also raised a whooping £539.

Palms Thursday morning tuck shop alone raised £130!

The children have shown true compassion for the situation and have really pulled together to make all the events held a great success.  Non of this would of been possibly without your continued support and this we appreciate.

I hope you all have a great Easter break and I look forward to welcoming you all back in school on Monday 25th April for another fantastic term.

Early Years - Acorns

Acorns topic has been Superheroes. We loved the book “10 little superheroes” and made our own superhero masks and painted faces and captions. The book “Supertato” was very funny, and we made some real vegetables into superheroes and had a fruit and vegetable shop in class. We have all enjoyed pretending to be superheroes, and we even had a superhero party where we showed off all our superhero moves and superpowers.

What a busy half-term in Chestnut Class

We have been learning about electricity and researched Thomas Edison, we made our own electrical circuits. We also worked in the Studio, identifying what light and dark materials we could spot.

We have also been writing newspaper reports and had an Alien visit the class, we wrote a newspaper article about the visit.

In Maths, we have been learning all about capacity, we have been measuring different measures and identifying which containers hold the most or the least water.

In Design Technology we made delicious Easter cakes, measured the ingredients, counted out the mini eggs and thoroughly enjoyed the cakes we made.

Our reward this term was a trip to the park. We practised our road safety on the way and had so much fun together at the park. We can't wait to do this again.

This term in Lower Evergreens we have focused on exercise and wellbeing, getting out and enjoying sports and other outdoor activities.  We washed cars for our Enterprise and work related learning project.

We also focused on planning visits to local shops and buying ingredients to make our own school lunch.

On Wednesday 30th March we held 'Your Child future' an event for post 16 and 19 pupils.

As with previous years we had a mixture of College and adult placement providers as well as Louise Stilwell, our Carers South West Advisor. Louise supports families and young people with the transition process form year 11 onwards.

We would like to thank all the providers that where able to attend.

If you would like any further information about any of the providers please contact the school office.
