Dear Parents, Carers, and Friends,

I am delighted to share our recent Ofsted report with you. During our recent Ofsted inspection, which was a planned ungraded inspection, the school was found to be outstanding in all areas. This is a remarkable achievement, and it is a testament to the hard work, dedication, and commitment of both our staff and students. Although this was an ungraded inspection, the inspectors highlighted significant improvements across the school since our last graded inspection. The evidence they gathered pointed to substantial progress in all aspects of school life – from academic standards and teaching quality to personal development and leadership. The improvements observed were not only encouraging but truly demonstrate our ongoing commitment to providing the best possible education for our students.

I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to our talented staff, who continue to go above and beyond to support our students, and to our students themselves, whose enthusiasm and hard work have played a vital role in making our school such a positive place to learn. I also appreciate the continued support of our parents and carers, without whom this achievement would not have been possible. We are incredibly proud of what has been achieved, but we are equally excited about continuing to build on this progress.

In addition to this news, It has been a truly exciting and busy few weeks here at school, and I am delighted to share some of the wonderful highlights with you.

London Trip February 2025

Our Sixth Form students recently embarked on an unforgettable trip to London. The experience was not only educational but also inspiring, as they had the opportunity to explore some of the city's most iconic landmarks and engage in a range of cultural activities. It was a wonderful opportunity for them to bond as a year group and create lasting memories. The students had an incredible time and gained so much from the experiences and activities, which included: the science museum; aquarium; a West End show and the houses of parliament, to name but a few. These experiences are truly life-changing for some of our learners. This trip is a wonderful reflection of the vision and values of our school, where inclusion lies at the heart of everything we do. It is clear this experience was not only educational but also inspiring and enriching for our students. For a trip like this to run so smoothly and successfully takes a lot of hard work, dedication, and careful planning, and I would like to extend my heartfelt thanks to Scott Ladd for his incredible effort and ambition for our pupils. I would also like to thank the rest of the team who generously gave up their time and energy to support our students throughout the trip.

 Elm Class Pancake Fun!

This week, Elm Class had a fantastic time making and flipping pancakes! The children enjoyed the challenge of flipping them in the pan, with lots of laughter along the way. They then got to choose their own toppings—either the classic lemon and sugar or a delicious banana and chocolate spread combination. It was a wonderful hands-on experience, and everyone had lots of fun!

World Book Day 2025

World Book Day at our school was an exciting and creative celebration, where both staff and students embraced the joy of reading by dressing up as their favourite book characters. The day was filled with a variety of fun and engaging activities, including storytelling workshops, arts and crafts, and drama sessions. Students had the opportunity to immerse themselves in their favourite stories and explore new ones through interactive storytelling experiences. There were also dress-up sessions where everyone showcased their costumes, creating a vibrant atmosphere of book-inspired characters all around the school.

In addition, students participated in storyboarding projects, where they could design their own narratives and bring them to life through creative drawings and designs. The day fostered a sense of imagination and creativity, while also encouraging a love for books and reading. It was an unforgettable World Book Day, bringing the whole school community together in the spirit of literature and fun!

World of work week

This week has also seen the launch of our World of Work event, where students across the school have had the chance to learn about a wide variety of careers and vocations. We've been joined by a fantastic array of guest speakers, including professionals from an art gallery, the police force, musicians, professional chefs, and many more. These sessions have been invaluable in helping our students understand the diverse career pathways available to them, and we are incredibly grateful to all the guest speakers for sharing their expertise and experiences.

In addition to our career-focused events, we have also hosted an exciting and educational animal talk. This provided our students with the chance to learn more about the fascinating world of animals and conservation, further expanding their knowledge beyond the traditional curriculum. Through these events, we aim to inspire our students and equip them with the knowledge and confidence to think about their futures beyond school. Whether it’s exploring potential career paths or considering further education, these experiences are crucial in helping them make informed decisions about life after school.

It’s been a busy and rewarding few weeks, and I’m so proud of how our students have engaged with all of these opportunities. Thank you for your continued support as we strive to provide our students with the best experiences both inside and outside the classroom.

St Piran's Day Parade

On a bright and sunny day, students from Palm, Elm, and Maple classes took a trip into Penzance to enjoy the annual parade. It was a fantastic opportunity for the children to experience the event firsthand, and they had a wonderful time taking in all the sights and sounds.

After the parade, the students were treated to some well-deserved delicious chips at a local café. While we were there, a kind member of the public, who had been enjoying her breakfast, came over to compliment the children on their impeccable behaviour. She mentioned how lovely it was to see them so well-mannered and hoped they enjoyed their chips.

It was a lovely reminder of the positive impact our students have on the community. A big thank you to everyone who helped make the day so special!
