ISSUE 004

Dear Parents/Carers,

What an eventful end to the Spring half-term! I hope that you have all kept safe and out of harms way of the storm.

It has been a really productive half-term. Lots of pupils have been able to go swimming at the leisure centre; access rebound therapy and horse riding. We also had a visit from school improvement partner who reported excellent progression in reading across the school:

'Since the last visit senior leaders had done well to support the leadership of reading. The Sip visited a wide range of reading lessons with the Deputy Headteacher and the lead for reading. Leaders knew their school well and had clearly developed a set of reading expectations which were delivered across the school. As ever, what comes across clearly is the ever-present ambition by all which challenges and drives students to achieve more.'

I am pleased to say that choir will be back next half-term, and we are also delighted to be able to invite parents into school for a parent consultation evening on Thursday 24th March. We look forward to seeing you there!

Have a safe and relaxing half-term holiday.

Ruth Carpenter

Hello Everyone

What a busy few weeks we have had.  Listening to pupils talk about the recent activities they have been involved in at school has been great.

As always if anyone needs any advice or support please don't hesitate to contact the office team. We are always happy to help.

Hope you all have a lovely week off, and we look forward to welcoming you all back on Monday 28th February.

Upper Evergreen students have been using the Library in St Johns Hall. They have been using the library systems and have been able to access a vast variety of books. They have been going to the library each fortnight to choose books, which we can read in school and recommend to others.

We have also created a reading display in class to show our book recommendations and will keep adding to it as we visit the library and change books over time.

Welcome, Lena to Nancealverne School. Lena is the new Teaching Assistant that is based in Early Years.  She was kind enough to answer a few questions about herself, so we could get to know her better.

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement was completing a Master Degree. I also completed the Eden Project Marathon.

Can you tell us a fascinating fact about yourself?

I can speak four languages.

Do you have a favourite food?

I really enjoy making homemade sushi and pitta, these are my favourite foods.

What do you like to do in your spare time?

I enjoy spending time with my family and friends. Surfing, playing football, running and travelling are also things I like to do.

Acorns have been learning about different planets, and we made this display using paints and shaving foam! We also made our book corner Space teamed so that we could read by the light of the stars and learn the correct order of the Planets.

This term Lower Evergreens have been learning about the sport of Table Cricket. It has been a lot of fun!

We have also been busy making Bug Hotels which we have placed in our Garden to encourage more wildlife. Below is a picture of our projects. The runner beans are really shooting up now.

Active Cornwell are providing Free swimming sessions at Penzance Leisure centre throughout February half term.

They have two free sessions daily 1-2 and 2-3 - Monday to Friday

No need to book just turn up.
