News Letter June 2022

Dear all Parents/ Carers,

Nancealverne School has had a very busy time recently but it has been great fun and amazing to be able to celebrate together with the whole school community again.

On Friday 27th May,  we held a Platinum Jubilee Party where parents joined us for a royal celebration. Our Makaton choir performed for the first time together since the pandemic which was a very touching moment and all classes provided home-made goodies and treats for the event. We were also blessed with a beautiful sunny afternoon. We even had our own royal parade!

On the 8th June, the whole school enjoyed a trip to Flambards theme park, courtesy of the rotary club who funded the event. We are very thankful to the rotary club as our children had a wonderful time. It was the first time we have taken the whole school out together which is quite an achievement! Well done to the fabulous staff team who made this event such a success.

As part of the curriculum ‘Skills builder’ day and as a ‘Gold’ accredited skills builder school, we have been organising curriculum enrichment sessions throughout the summer term. On Friday 18th June, all children were asked to design and make an outfit for the day. With the help of some well-known fashion designers such as Super-Dry, the children created fabulous ‘fancy’ clothes, and we ended the day with a fashion show. In addition and as part of our curriculum cultural enrichment sessions, we have also been lucky enough to have some musicians in the school for ‘Summer Sessions.’ Most recently the well-known band ‘Flats and Sharps’ entertained our pupils and other musicians will be performing in July.

We have been busy planning our new classes and teams for September. All students had a wonderful transition morning on 24th June where they met their new teachers. The next session is on Friday 8th July.
