ISSUE 013

Dear Parents and Carers,

It has been lovely to see everyone after the half-term break. We hope everyone had a well deserved week off, and we are so excited to get back into the rest of the term and, hopefully, see some sunshine in the coming weeks!

It's an exciting half-term coming up with World Book Day, Red Nose Day and all our usual learning opportunities and experiences.

Please may we give you a reminder about the importance of attendance and punctuality. Do follow school procedure if your child is unable to attend school. The school day starts promptly at 9:10am and finishes at 3:20pm. If a student arrives late it can have a real impact on the class and the planned activities for the day. Thank you for your support.

Could we also please remind all parents and carers that at Nancealverne we encourage all children to wear the agreed uniform. We understand that this can be difficult for some children, and we can be flexible to everyone's individual differences.

If you require help in purchasing uniform, we can support you with good quality second hand uniform, or financial assistance. Please contact one of our home school liaison team, Steph, in complete confidence. We are always happy to help!

Best wishes,

Lauren (Home School Liaison Team)

World Book Day takes place on Thursday 2nd of March this year and we are very excited to celebrate!

We will have lots of fun activities taking place throughout the day including: Story-telling, arts and crafts, games and quizzes, and a vocabulary and costume parade for those who are comfortable to do so.

This week, Upper 6th Form have been shopping for pancake ingredients in town. The smell of sizzling pancakes from the 6th form kitchen was amazing!

Uppers have also been looking at the roles of a Gardener in their 'Work Related Learning' sessions, exploring sights, smells and textures.

As you can see - a great time was had by all!

We had our first pupil parliament meeting of the year this week. The students had some great ideas including writing to the council to petition for a crossing on the main road by school, fundraising for Red Nose Day and providing ideas to the Penlee cluster for what to include in their new sensory room. Lots of exciting plans so watch this space!

At our coffee morning this Friday we had representatives from Penwith college come to talk to us about transitioning up to college.

It was wonderful to see so many parents from across the school. 6th form students also joined us for tea and biscuits and to hear more about the courses at the college.

If you have come to our coffee mornings since January and would be willing to send us some feedback we would really appreciate it. Pop your comments in an email and send them to Lauren: lladd@nancealverne.org.uk

Looking forward to the next one!
