ISSUE 003

Hello everyone

What a great start to the Spring Term! We've had such a positive return to school and having everyone back together is brilliant. The energy, enthusiasm and buzz around school is wonderful to see.

A reminder that school starts promptly at 9.10 to allow children to come in and settle and get ready for the days learning. This part of the day is crucial in giving children the opportunity to organise their learning equipment for the day and check in with their teachers. Every minute and every day counts.  Please also refer to our attendance policy on our website which outlines all our procedures, including requests for absence.

As always if anyone needs any advice or support please don't hesitate to contact the office team. We are always happy to help.

Hope you all have a lovely weekend.

Dan is our new teacher in Lower Evergreens. Rachel interviewed Dan with a few questions!

Welcome, Dan to Nancealverne School, we would like to ask you a few questions, so we can get to know you better.

What is your greatest achievement?

My greatest achievement must be having my two lovely children. My second would be completing the Cardiff Half Marathon in under two hours. I reached my goal and it felt really good.

Can you tell us a fascinating fact about yourself?

I love surfing and I love woodwork, so I built my own wooden surfboard! It hasn't sunk yet!

Do you have any pets?

I have five chickens! They are lovely pets to have, getting fresh eggs every morning. They do however, escape quite a lot!

Do you have a favourite food?

After going on a trip to Venice, I now love all Italian food. Fresh homemade pasta and pizza is the best.

Have you always wanted to be a teacher?

Yes, I have always wanted to be a teacher. My favourite teacher at school was my Technology teacher. He taught really interesting things and was kind to everyone. He inspired me to want to do the same.

Taster sessions for year 10 students and upwards at both St Austell and Camborne campuses

These sessions are going be run face to face on 18th February from 5pm -7pm.

These will give students a chance to get hands on with real course activities - explore our campuses and find out what it's like to be a student at Cornwall College St Austell!- we also welcome any parents or family members who are coming along, to stay and have a cup of tea or coffee, while students are in the taster session. It will be a great opportunity for them to chat to our passionate team about other important aspects of college life, such as transport, additional learning support, finance options and the student experience.

In the final part of the taster session, there will also be the chance for family members to tour the curriculum facilities and meet the teaching team.

Please contact Trudy Rudge who will beale to book you onto these courses.  01579 372302
