Due to an exciting expansion of Nancealverne School and increased pupil numbers from September 2024, we are seeking to appoint a number of energetic and enthusiastic SEN Teaching Assistants to work as part of a wider team at Nancealverne School.  We have several positions available, to start in September 2024.

Nancealverne School is a highly successful Academy Trust School that lies in the heart of Penzance, Cornwall.  We provide a specialist- high quality, relevant and balanced education for young people aged 3-19 who have moderate to complex learning difficulties. This focuses on individual, personal, and academic achievement, setting high expectations for all.

The school is a member of the Special Partnership Trust, an ambitious and inspiring collaboration of specialist provision in Cornwall, with a focus on excellence in learning for everyone.

The role of an SEN Teaching Assistant at Nancealverne School may change during the day, dependent upon the support needs of each pupil.  The successful candidate will be required to work alongside class teachers and other support staff and to follow any recommendations/guidance from multi agency teams.  This position will include extensive training annually covering Safeguarding, TeamTeach, personal care and medical certificates depending on the needs of class (feeds, epilepsy training, etc.)

  • Experience of supporting pupils with challenging behaviours, severe physical and/or learning difficulties is desirable for this position.
  • Experience in a school setting is desirable.
  • A warm and empathetic personality is vital, as is a desire to work professionally with others to ensure we provide the best possible support for our pupils.
  • A commitment to continuing professional development is necessary; we work closely together, and roles may be interchangeable to meet children’s needs.

We are committed to safeguarding children and the successful applicant will be required to undertake an enhanced Disclosure and Barring Service (DBS) check.

To comply with KCSIE 2023, we will conduct a simple online search prior to interview.

Application packs are available from the Nancealverne School Website (www.nancealverne.org.uk) and should be returned to:  Jessica Jackson. Nancealverne School, Madron Road, Penzance. TR20 8TP or via email jjackson@nancealverne.org.uk.

If you have the commitment, enthusiasm, initiative, and drive to help us meet our core values - then we welcome your application.
